The 'Backing International Small Restaurants' grant programme returns this year, offering 20 eligible businesses a significant boost.

The international award, which in the UK is open to businesses in London and Manchester, must be used towards critical business needs that support the restaurant’s long-term sustainability. This could include enhancing digital capabilities, building outdoor dining spaces, buying new equipment and making other physical improvements.

The program, run by the International Downtown Association Foundation and supported by American Express, is focused on venues owned or operated by underrepresented or economically vulnerable members of the community. This might include those experiencing hardship, women, people of colour, LGBTQIA+, and immigrants.

In the UK 20 businesses (from London and Manchester only) will be awarded £11,000 each. Successful applicants will be announced in August.

The deadline to apply is May 31.
